Last night's Met Gala might go down in history as the most outrageous and unashamedly fun ever. With serious bling competing with more rhinestones, feathers and crystals than you've seen in Cher's entire Bob Mackie-bedecked career, the red – sorry, pink – carpet overflowed with eye-popping headdresses and cocktail rings, thousands of carats worth of diamonds and a rainbow of coloured gemstones.
Queen of camp Lady Gaga topped off her four costume changes with Tiffany's contemporary take on high jewellery in the form of a diamond and yellow gold butterfly collar from its 2019 Blue Book collection, while actor and singer Billy Porter shut the entire show down with an Ancient Egypt-inspired look from The Blonds that included a giant 24-carat gold headpiece.
Alessandro Michele demonstrated his instinct for a dramatic jewellery moment with a silver headpiece while fellow co-host Harry Styles appeared at his side in a single pearl earring from Gucci. Michele's signature look of a fistful of rings was one widely imitated by guests on the night, including by Styles himself.
With stars of stage, screen and catwalk channeling their finest Liberace and Las Vegas show girl, the Met Gala this year was a case of more is definitely more. Here is Vogue's pick of the best jewellery on the night.
